Graduate Minor in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication
The Rhetoric and Scientific & Technical Communication (RSTC) Graduate Minor is now the Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication (WRTC) Graduate Minor. The WRTC minor has an updated name; all other minor requirements are the same as the previous RSTC minor. All students beginning the minor in Spring 2026 and beyond will enroll in the WRTC minor. Please contact Allie Cooperman at [email protected] with any questions.
The Graduate Minor in WRTC is for students pursuing another master's or doctoral degree at the University of Minnesota. The minor prepares students to:
- integrate writing pedagogy into discipline-specific teaching practices;
- develop skills in rhetorical analysis; and
- apply scientific and technical communication principles to the communication of scholarly work.
Students take 6 credits (for a master's minor) or 12 credits (for a doctoral minor), selecting among courses in our core areas of rhetoric, writing studies and pedagogy, and technical communication. You can declare the minor on One Stop. Please contact Allie Cooperman at [email protected] for more information.
