The Department of Writing Studies in the College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to begin fall semester 2018 (08/27/2018). We seek an outstanding scholar in rhetoric of science and/or rhetoric of health and medicine. Appointment will be 100% time over the nine-month academic year (late-August to late-May) at the rank of tenure-track assistant professor. We are most strongly interested in a beginning assistant professor but would also consider an advanced assistant professor.

A Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Writing Studies, Rhetoric, Technical Communication, Communication or related field is required. Degree must be in hand by August 27, 2018. To be considered, candidates must demonstrate clear potential for academic achievement in scholarly research, have experience teaching composition and/or technical communication, and be willing to participate in service. Promise and/or record of publication in rhetoric of science and/or health/medicine is preferred, as is teaching experience in technical communication, rhetoric of science, and/or rhetoric of health and medicine. Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of their academic preparation and scholarly research/profile, evidence of research ability, evidence of commitment to teaching and skills as a teacher, and strength of recommendations.
