Germaine Lindsay Saladino Juan is an Ilokana immigrant settled in the ahupuaʻa of Kalihi in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. She graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with dual bachelor degrees in Ethnic Studies and Philippine Language & Culture (Ilokano) and a minor in Computer Science.

Germaine’s research interests lie in identity formations, cultural production, and social movements of Filipinos in Hawaiʻi. She is curious of how diasporic Filipinos maintain transnational ties to the Philippines while forging their own cultural identities elsewhere. She is also fascinated by popular social media discourses that revolve around heritage, nationalism, representation, and belonging.
