Friends Lecture at Mia: Yvonne and Gabriel Weisberg

UMN Art History Emeritus Professor, Gabriel P. Weisberg, will be speaking at the Minneapolis Institute of Art on Sunday November 5, at 2pm. Tickets are available to the general public beginning on October 17. See the Mia website for details.

Professor Weisberg will be in conversation with his wife and collecting partner, Yvonne Weisberg, and will be reflecting on their lifetime career in the field of nineteenth-century European drawings and paintings. Their private collection, which numbers at over 200 important works, is now a promised gift to Mia's permanent holdings. A digital catalog of the works, featuring essays by Winifred Smith and Tom Rassieur, was published earlier this year and is available open-access.

A dynamic and prolific professor in the UMN Department of Art History between 1985-2017, Dr. Weisberg was honored with a College Art Association Distinguished Teacher award in 2012. The Department is proud to offer the Weisberg Curatorial Fellowship to UMN undergraduate and graduate students. Watch this space for details about this year's application process, which will carry a Dec. 1, 2023 deadline.
