Resources

10. View the Psychology Faculty Lookbook

Having a hard time trying to find faculty to reach out to about joining their research lab? The Psychology Advising Office created the Psychology Faculty Lookbook to show students and faculty who are currently facilitating active research labs in the Department of Psychology. View the Psychology Lookbook to see over 40 faculty profiles learning about their research interests, description of their research, their mentoring philosophy, and what research opportunities are available for undergraduate students. The Psychology Faculty Lookbook is located on our website.

11. Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)

UROP provides funding for students to complete 120 hours of research under the mentorship of a faculty member. Students can work with any faculty at the University of Minnesota and do not have to work with someone in their major or even their college. Depending on the academic discipline and faculty mentor, students can join an already established research project or create their own research project. Students set their own timeline for completing their projects, although most complete their UROP in a semester or over the summer. Students work closely with faculty mentors throughout their undergraduate research experience. Students gain valuable connections and skills and faculty are provided with talented undergraduates for research assistance. The application for Summer/Fall 2024 has already passed. Be on the lookout for Spring 2025 application information! Learn more about UROP on their website or attend their peer drop-in hours if you have questions about the program!

13. Research Opportunities in Scoop!

As we get closer to the summer and fall term, be on the lookout for more research opportunities highlighted in the Psych Scoop every Tuesday. Throughout the summer, we will be sending the Psych Scoop biweekly, but will still highlight research labs that will be accepting students to work in the lab for volunteering and credit opportunities. Any questions about research opportunities may be directed to psyadvis@umn.edu.

14. *Credit or Volunteer* Research Opportunity in I/O Psychology

Are you interested in Psychology research? Have you ever wondered how an individual's personality can influence how they behave on the job? The Ones Lab in the I-O Psychology Department is seeking conscientious and motivated students to volunteer for our project on Personality and workplace deviance. We are researching the relationship between the various sub-facets of personality and how they influence an individual's likelihood to engage in various forms of counterproductive work behaviors. This is important as it allows us to better maintain a friendly and cooperative environment at the workplace! Students will participate in identifying, retrieving, and organizing studies, as well as coding relevant research for a quantitative synthesis. We prefer a summer and fall semester commitment. Interested students should submit this Google form, including a CV & unofficial transcript. Students who have taken courses in I-O psychology, quantitative methods, and individual differences (e.g., personality, abilities) will be preferred. Honors students who are interested in completing their theses using data from this experience or who are interested in seeking UROP funding for related research are encouraged to apply. Credit for 5993 will be provided for those interested. Questions about this research opportunity may be directed to Michael Hazboun at hazbo002@umn.edu. We look forward to your applications!
