Career Readiness
The College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities is committed to liberal arts career readiness with a focus on helping undergraduates develop and express a set of core career competencies.
Leveraging the Liberal Arts Advantage
The key focus of our Career Readiness support is to help liberal arts students:
- Understand the Core Competencies they are developing in their liberal arts education
- Articulate how they have developed these competencies through their academic and co-curricular experiences
- Translate the value of these experiences into the language of employers
Integrated Approach
CLA has developed innovative tools and resources specifically for liberal arts students, integrating our model into the curriculum and the student experience so we can connect students with all of the people in the College of Liberal Arts who can support them. From the time students enter CLA until the time they graduate, our goal is to have a consistent conversation with them about the value of their education.
Licensing Options
CLA's innovation in career readiness for undergraduate liberal arts students has been curriculum integration that scales up our ability to help every student express the relevance of the ten Core Competencies they gain as outcomes of their CLA education. We are now positioned to share with other institutions a framework specifically for liberal arts colleges.
