Scott Winter is a Senior Lecturer and Charnley Projects Professor at the University of Minnesota's Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He's interested in joining students to bravely and imaginatively tell social justice stories, especially in the areas of international and sports journalism. His past students at Bethel University (Minn.) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln have won national Hearst, Associated Collegiate Press and Robert F. Kennedy awards.
He worked as a sports journalist and editor before earning his Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he published his doctoral thesis, Nebrasketball, at the University of Nebraska Press. During his time at Lincoln, he also taught graduate students at the World Media Academy in Delhi, the Kosovo Institute of Journalism and Communication in Pristina and Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia.
