Scott has a broad range of business and institutional management, development, government relations and communications leadership experience. He has worked with Fortune 500 companies, started and grown his own business and was chairman of the world’s largest public relations firm. Scott is currently a teaching professor and outreach director for the Hubbard School of Journalism at the University of Minnesota following seven years as chief marketing officer for the College of Liberal Arts. He began his career in advertising and public relations at Piper Jaffray in Minneapolis. He held corporate positions at International Multifoods, US Bank and Control Data, before pursuing a career as an entrepreneur. He became an investor and president of a small public relations firm, helped build it into the largest public relation firm in Minnesota before merging it with London–based Shandwick International. He eventually became CEO of Shandwick, which had 44 offices in 28 countries, before helping it merge with Weber Worldwide, forming Weber Shandwick, the world’s largest public relations firm where he served as chairman and chief strategy officer. He returned to Minnesota in 2014 to join the University of Minnesota where he is also an alumnus.
