Adelante! Scholarship | $500 award

Available to CLS majors who declared their major in Chicano & Latino studies in the current academic year (2023–24). The competition requires the submission of an application form and submission of a two-page, single-spaced essay on how being a Chicano & Latino studies major contributed to your personal and intellectual growth.

Getting to the finish line?

Guillermo Rojas Scholarship | $500 award

Available to CLS majors and minors who have taken 21 credits or fewer of coursework to complete in Chicano & Latino studies. This award acknowledges the perseverance of a student and an ongoing commitment to intellectual growth as a way of honoring the many years of service that Professor Rojas gave to students and the department. The competition requires the submission form and submission of a two-page, single-spaced essay on how being a Chicano & Latino studies major contributed to personal and intellectual growth.

Wrote a great paper for a Chicano & Latino Studies course?

Best Chicano Studies Essay | $700 award

Applicants must be accepted majors in the department. Students may self-nominate or be nominated by teaching faculty. To be considered for the competition, students submit an application form and a high-quality essay produced while enrolled in a Chicano & Latino studies course.
