Help our students change the world
The most valuable experience our students receive is the opportunity to work on impactful community-engaged projects. Here we see first-hand the power of history and heritage, when communities are empowered to tell their own story and reclaim their own cultural patrimony. Students learn not only how to research, preserve, and advocate, they also learn how to collaborate with communities in culturally responsive, equitable, and ethical ways. We provide support both to community organizations and to our students to accomplish this work. While there is high demand for these projects and professional skills, there are few grant sources available to support them in higher education.
What your gift can do
Your tax-deductible gift will contribute to these important projects and future professionals in two ways: student funding, which allows them to focus fully on the experience, and project funding, which materially supports communities in preserving and telling their histories.
Choose a fund
We have two funds you can contribute to which support students and community-engaged projects:
- Elaine Tyler May and Riv-Ellen Prell Fund for Heritage Studies & Public History
- David F. and Rosemary H. Good Fund in Heritage Studies and Public History
The Heritage Studies and Public History program contributes to vibrant communities, because communities with strong roots have the opportunity to thrive. Our alumni are working to nurture and protect those roots. Your gift can support them as they develop into leaders of the profession.
