Austin Kraft Awarded Fulbright
Austin Kraft (B.A. Linguistics, B.S. Mathematics 2020) was awarded a Fulbright research award to conduct linguistic fieldwork in Indonesia. He will conduct research on the syntax and semantics of Peranakan Javanese, spoken in Semarang, Central Java; Pemalang Javanese in Pemalang, Central Java; and Kualan-Semandang in Ketapang, Western Kalimantan. The grant period will last approximately one academic year (2020-2021).
Created in 1946, the Fulbright Program awards grants to students, teachers, scholars, professionals and artists to conduct research or teach abroad. Fulbright is a program of the United States Department of State with funding provided by the United States government, administered by the Institute of International Education.
