Institute of Linguistics COVID-19 Response

As part of the directives from University of Minnesota president Joan Gabel, the Minnesota Department of Health, and the governor’s office, the Institute of Linguistics is now running a virtual office environment. 

All faculty, staff, and instructors are required to work remotely unless their job physically requires them to be on campus. 

Hours of operation

Hours of operation will remain the same: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm. All department staff can be reached via email during regular business hours.

Students can schedule advising/major declaration appointments via Zoom meetings with Brian Reese, Director of Undergraduate Studies, at There are 15 minutes slots set up from 10am and noon on Thursdays through May 7, and appointment slots may be added during the summer.
