SPPT Grad Student Camille Braun Receives Research Semester

Camille Braun was awarded an SPPT Research Semester for Spring 2024. Her dissertation, Centering Artistic Narratives of Self: How People Who Use Drugs Are Crafting New Models of Care in Contemporary Spain, investigates how contemporary Spanish memoirs, graphic novels and documentaries contest the biomedical model supported by conventional medical systems hereby centering the voices of drug users. In addition to her scholarly research, Camille interns at Southside Harm Reduction Services, collaborating on an oral history project, leading workshops, and providing Spanish interpretation to community members.
