Salam Al Sayed is a PhD student in Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures and Media in the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (AMES) at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Before joining AMES, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Research in Cultural Studies (CRiCS) at the University of Winnipeg, where she contributed to various projects and academic events, including the bi-annual Canadian Association of Cultural Studies (CACS) conference in 2022. She also worked as a Research Coordinator at the University of Manitoba (College of Nursing). Her scholarly interests include Arab cultural studies, global and digital media studies, postcolonial theory, trauma studies, and affect.
