My dissertation focuses on the socio-techno transformations of e-commerce villages in rural China. My research, based on 16 months of intense fieldwork in Daiji Township in China, examines how the growth of e-commerce in rural areas across China has significantly reshaped family dynamics, gendered roles, agricultural life, and the relationship between village, the state, and cyberspace. My work also provides a window and critique into the "black box" of algorithmic capitalism.
