Assistant Professor, Madelaine Cahuas, recently received the Rickie Sanders Junior Faculty Award.  This award is offered in recognition for "outstanding intersectional and anti-racist contributions to geography and the public in scholarship" and given by the Feminist Geography Specialty Group of the AAG(American Association of Geographers).

When granting the award, the selection committee wrote: "Your ongoing activist-research in issues of Latinx community struggle, your deep involvement in the development of Latinx Geographies as a subfield of geography, your active mentoring of geography students of color, and your exceptional publication record—including numerous publications that advance intersectional Latinx, decolonial, and Black feminist geographies—projects are just a few examples of how you have advanced an anti-racist geographic agenda in the spirit of Dr. Sanders' own contributions to Geography."

Congratulations Madelaine!
