While conducting his PhD studies, alumnus Dr. Chris Crawford (PhD '13, geography) was a NASA Earth and Space Sciences Fellow at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Crawford is a USGS scientist and co-chair of the Landsat science team; the Landsat series of satellites provides one of the longest-running and most valuable sets of earth observations in use today. The Landsat program is getting a lot of press these days with the successful launch and deployment of Landsat 9.
