UMN Geography Alum Receives Distinguished Award

Sophie Oldfield

The Society of South African Geographers recently announced the recipients for the Society’s most senior honorary awards. Professor Sophie Oldfield has been awarded a Fellowship of the Society. Professor Oldfield is a 2000 graduate of the Geography, Environment and Science department. She currently holds the University of Basel-University of Cape Town Professorship in Urban Studies, based at the African Centre for Cities at the University of Cape Town. The Fellowship is an honorary award to recognize outstanding scholarly contributions to the advancement of Geography and entails recognition to remarkable contribution to the discipline. Congratulations Sophie!
