Former UMN Geographer Dies

John W. Webb, UMN alumni, former Geography chair and CLA Dean, died recently at his home in St. Cloud, MN.  Dr. Webb received his Ph.D. from the UMN in 1958, taught for a year at the U of Maryland, then was recruited back to the U where he taught and administered in different capacities chair of the geography department (1966-69), and associate dean of CLA for the social sciences (1969-73).  He eventually moved to SUNY Albany as dean of social sciences, where he served until retiring.  After retirement, he moved back to Minnesota, first to Cannon Falls, then to St. Cloud.
