School of Statistics Representation at Goldy’s Run
The University of Minnesota’s School of Statistics was represented at this year’s Goldy’s Run, with some of our graduate students hitting the pavement to showcase their speed and endurance outside the classroom.
From the 5K to the 10-mile course, our students put up impressive numbers. A huge congratulations to our runners on their fantastic finishes:
-
Sage Albright (1st year MS): 5k - 19:10 [21st overall, 7th group (M25-29)], 10 Mile: 1:08:53 [58th overall, 13th group (M25-29)], Half-Marathon challenge - 1:28:03 (6th overall)
-
Robert Specht (1st year MS): 5k - 21:04 [72th overall, 18th group (M25-29)]
-
Liam Crafton (2nd year PhD): 5k - 24:33 [283rd overall, 64th group (M20-24)]
-
HJ Koo (4th year PhD): 5K - 24:42 [290th overall, 8th group (F30-34)]
It is clear we have some incredible runners in our department. We are so proud of these students for representing the School of Statistics with such energy and athleticism.
“Being new to Minneapolis, running has helped me feel more connected to the city. Within the department, all of our runners are consistently supporting each other through personal records and injury recovery alike. Goldy's Run was a fantastic way to celebrate our progress both as individuals and as a community!” says Sage Albright.
HJ says that running is always a go-to activity, "“It's how I clear my head, stay active, and just feel like myself. But what's made it even better is being part of such a supportive and encouraging group of people within the department. Having others to share the miles (and the occasional sore legs) with has truly been a game-changer.”
