Collegiate Affiliation

Sean Connaughty is a multi-media artist and teacher living in South Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.  He is the chair and co-founder of the collective Friends of Lake Hiawatha Bde Psin. His socially engaged art projects and exhibitions seek to mitigate anthropogenic impacts on ecologies. He uses public art as a catalyst to foster repair and reciprocity by working alongside communities and government agencies. Sean moved to San Francisco in 1985 to attend SFAI on the Mobility program through MCAD and in 1987 took extension courses at the UofM where he studied painting and took Logic and Art History courses before returning to study at MCAD, graduating with a BFA in Painting in 1989.
