My primary areas of interest are historical Germanic linguistics and the teaching of grammar. Though I gladly teach German 1001 to 1004 I also occasionally teach History of the German Language (for which I have prepared an extensive course pack), German Dialects, and Middle High German. My graduate work involved the idea of stress shift in early Germanic and possible remnants of that process in old Germanic poetry, which is not good dinner conversation.
