Dongwook (Danny) Kim is a Ph.D. student in Political Science with a specialization in International Relations and Methodology at the University of Minnesota. He holds an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Political Science & International Relations and Sociology (with a minor in Economics) from Seoul National University. His research interests include international security, East Asian international relations, territorial conflict and cybersecurity. More specifically, his current research examines how global commons, including open sea, airspace, and cyberspace have been territorialized by nation-states and the impact on the global power dynamics and the state transformation. He has also worked as a freelance translator, who translated English and Japanese books and news articles on East Asian politics, Cold War history, and continental philosophy into Korean. After graduation, Dongwook aspires to pursue research in the areas of political science, security studies, and interdisciplinary global studies.
