Assistant Director of Marching and Athletic Bands

A native of eastern Maryland, Dr. Lance Sample received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from West Virginia University, Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University, and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Conducting from The University of Texas at Austin. His principal conducting teachers include Jerry F. Junkin, Richard Clary, and Don Wilcox.

Dr. Sample served as an Assistant Instructor with University Bands at The University of Texas at Austin. He was involved in creative and administrative aspects of the program including The University of Texas Wind Ensemble and The Longhorn Band. Prior to his graduate studies at The University of Texas and Florida State University, Dr. Sample taught in the public schools of Maryland for seven years.

His professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Band Masters Association.
