Marissa Benedict is the Assistant Professor of trumpet at the University of Minnesota where she has an applied studio of 19 students, including undergraduates ranging from BA, Minors, Music Therapy, Performance, Education majors and MM and DMA students. After a 35 year performance and educator career in Los Angeles, she still actively performs in Minnesota, subbing with the Minnesota Orchestra and St Paul Chamber Orchestra. She is currently principal trumpet for The Pasadena Symphony/Pops and plays regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Los Angeles Master Chorale. She recently released and Electronic CD (EP) called Continental Shift, available on all major platforms (links provided below), performed and recorded Mahler's 8th Symphony with the Minnesota Orchestra, Chuck Lazarus" CD Merrier and Brighter, Jack Stamp's Chamber Music Volume 1, and the Los Angeles Trumpet ensemble's Homage (release September, 2023). She can be heard on over 180 motion picture soundtracks, with the most recent, Spider-Man, No Way Home, Avatar 2 - the Way of the Water, LightYear, Incredibles II, Spider-Man Far From Home, Coco, and Moana. Marissa's first book was released in 2022 by Carl Fischer Publishing, titled, Beyond Lip Service: A Framework for Brass Fundamentals.
