Miriam Queensen has taught screenwriting classes at the University of Minnesota since 2012, and she has also taught numerous screenwriting classes and workshops at the Loft Literary Center, Brainco School of Advertising and Independent Filmmaker Project MN. Her screenplay Clara, based on the life of pianist Clara Wieck Schumann, placed highly in a number of regional and national competitions, including 2nd place in the Hollywood Screenplay Discovery Awards, 3rd place in the Santa Fe Screenwriting Competition, was a Finalist in the Scriptapalooza Competition. Both Clara and her thriller The Red Seal were optioned by producers and directors in L.A. and Europe. She holds a B.A. from Oberlin College. Miriam has been a judge of area screenwriting and short film competitions, including the Wisconsin Screenwriters’ Forum Competition, the Minneapolis Screenwriters’ Workshop Script-to-Screen Competition and the U of M Twin Cities Student Film Festival Competition. She is proud to relate that many of her former students have gone on to place highly in screenwriting competitions, work in the film industry and to write, direct and/or produce their own film projects.
