Senior Teaching Specialist and Clinic Coordinator: Music Therapy
Edward Todd Schwartzberg, M. Ed, MT-BC
Todd received his BA in Music Education; emphasis in Music Therapy from the University of Kansas (1998) and completed his Masters in Education; emphasis in Music Therapy from the University of Minnesota (2003). He has had the privilege of working with a variety of individuals in a myriad of settings, including long term-care centers, schools, hospitals, day training/habilitation centers and rehabilitation centers and has collaborated with colleagues to create numerous job opportunities for music therapists. His area of specialization is with children and adults with autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disabilities. As Senior Teaching Specialist and Clinic Coordinator at the University of Minnesota, he teaches classes, conducts research, and provides private and group music therapy sessions for children and adults with ASD, and other neurological and physical disabilities through the On-Campus Music Therapy Clinic. Professor Schwartzberg has published several articles on the topics of working memory and social and communication skills of children with ASD in peer-reviewed journals. He has served on the board of directors for Lionsgate Academy and the Autism Society of Minnesota (holding all four executive offices) and as the Government Relations Chair for the Music Therapy Association of Minnesota. Currently he serves as the President for the Great Lakes Region of the AMTA. He has served as member of the Minnesota State Licensure Task Force since 2009 (chair 2009-2018). Professor Schwartzberg has also served as a member of the American Music Therapy Association’s Strategic Priority Committee on Autism Spectrum Disorder (currently a co-chair) and is in his fourth term as a delegate to the Assembly of Delegates for the Great Lakes Region of the AMTA.
