Writing Across the Curriculum

The Writing Across the Curriculum program (WAC) supports effective, course-relevant approaches to teaching with writing through two innovative and dynamic programs:

  • Teaching with Writing Program (TWW) is a system-wide resource for any University instructor who assigns writing (broadly construed to include verbal, numeric, figurative, and embodied texts). Support is offered through workshops and discussions, teaching consultations, writing retreats, and a host of online writing resources.
  • Writing-Enriched Curriculum Program (WEC) is a faculty-driven model designed to support the curricular integration of relevant writing and writing instruction into undergraduate majors and to increase the rate at which student writing meets locally generated faculty expectations

The WAC Program has its administrative home in the Office for Undergraduate Education but is physically located within the Center for Writing where it contributes to the Center’s mission of supporting students and educators who practice, teach with, and research writing at the University of Minnesota.
