DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Announces New 2021 Competitions

for Short-Term Research Grants, Research Stays, German Studies Research Grants, and Young Ambassadors.

Short-Term Research Grants are awarded for one to six months to highly qualified candidates who will have completed a Master’s degree or Diploma, or in exceptional cases a Bachelor’s degree, by the time they begin their grant-supported research, or to those who have already completed a PhD (postdocs).  Please apply by May 3, 2021.

Research Stays are awarded for one to three months in all academic disciplines to scholars at US and Canadian institutions of higher education (with at least two years’ full-time experience in research/teaching after their PhD) to pursue research at universities, libraries, archives, institutes or laboratories in Germany. Please apply by May 17, 2021.

German Studies Research Grants are awarded for one to two months to highly qualified US and Canadian undergraduate and graduate students nominated by their department/program chairs, with the application deadline May 1, 2021.

Young Ambassadors are undergraduate students who recently studied abroad in Germany and promote study in Germany at their home universities with help from the DAAD. Only one student may be nominated per university, with the application deadline May 3, 2021. (Application materials available in April)
