Alum Invites Dr. Jeremy Rose to 80th Birthday Party
Dr. Jeremey Rose and (then teaching assistant) Mario Garcia were invited to Duane's graduation party in 2005! (Duane graduated when he was 62).
You could never tell that 18 years have passed from these two pictures! We love it when our students stay in touch!
Duane Laurent graduated from our undergraduate program in 2005 and celebrated his 80th Birthday in April.
In 2004, Jeremy Rose taught Persuasion Theories, assisted by TA Mario Garcia. One of the students was a 62-year-old man named Duane Laurent, a very engaged student who came to our offices to discuss course concepts, and after the semester ended, he invited us both to come to his graduation party. The first photo was taken in May 2005.
Fast forward to April 2023, when Duane's twin sons tracked Jeremy down and invited him to attend their father's 80th birthday party. His son said, "He still mentions the things you guys talked about in class." Jeremy passed the email along to Mario, who Jeremy had kept in touch with after Mario moved to San Francisco. Surprisingly, Mario was in St. Paul that weekend and was able to come to the party. So the three of them did their best to recreate a photo from 18 years earlier. Jeremy even still had the same leather jacket.
