3rd Annual HHEI Alumni Conference

Plenary Speakers Sergio Ocampo Diaz and Kathleen McKiernan

The Heller-Hurwicz Economics Institute (HHEI) is proud to host the 3rd Annual HHEI Alumni Conference. The event will happen online on Thursday, July 7th, and Friday, July 8th.

The invitation-only conference is the third in the series and features current Ph.D. candidates as well as Ph.D. alumni from the Department of Economics of the University of Minnesota. The conference provides a valuable opportunity for final-year graduate students to present their research and gather feedback before entering the job market in early 2023.

This year, Sergio Ocampo Díaz (Ph.D. 2019) and Kathleen McKiernan (Ph.D. 2018) are giving the plenary talks. Ocampo, an Assistant Professor of Economics at Western University (London, Ontario), will speak on “The Evolution of US Retail Concentration.”  McKiernan, an Assistant Professor of Economics at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN), will speak on "Revisiting Retirement and Social Security Claiming Decisions."

For more information on the event, please contact the organizer, Elena Falcettoni (Ph.D. 2019), at elena.falcettoni@frb.gov.
