Teaching Language at a Distance as Guided Practice
In preparation for eventual online teaching in the fall, language instructors throughout the University of Minnesota are invited to participate in a series of workshops that address specific issues related to online language teaching and learning. The series draws upon identified perceived needs in the language curriculum related to technology integration for successful delivery online. Each of the sessions will allow instructors to understand the framework of instructional strategies at play in the development of effective learning environments. In addition, the sessions provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, sharing, and development of exemplary materials.
This workshop series was designed primarily around the following questions:
- How can you evolve your language curriculum to meet today’s flexibility demands?
- How can technology help you develop and manage an immersive and flexible learning space?
- How can technology-enhanced language learning help maintain high quality language instruction?
- How can the use of technology be strategized to minimize or diminish accessibility issues?

This workshop series is a collaboration of the Language Center, CARLA, LATIS, and the Center for Educational Innovation and open to all language instructors at all University of Minnesota campuses.
