CourseShare for Spring 2025

The tentative class list for CourseShare courses for next semester is now available! Most courses are continuation courses, although new students can potentially join a course sequence if they are not true beginners. For students interested in Vietnamese, we now have a self-placement tool.

There will be at least two courses for graduate and advanced undergraduates with no prerequisites:

  • LANG 1171 / 5171: Beginning Aramaic I
  • LANG 5451: Introduction to Sumerian

You can request updates on a particular course, or request a new language, by submitting a short course request form or emailing [email protected]

FLAS for Academic Year 2025-2026

Applications for Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships in African and International studies for summer 2025 and academic year 2025 – 2026 are now being accepted!

Applications are due Monday, February 3, 2025

This competition is open to undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree students to study a modern less-commonly-taught language (LCTL) in combination with area studies courses. There are two distinct competitions (African studies and International studies).

Fellowships are available to study modern foreign languages offered locally, as well as languages offered through the CourseShare program with approval. Please contact the Language Center at [email protected] to discuss options before submitting an application for a language not offered locally.
