Hometown: Maple Grove, MN

Major: Human Physiology

Activities you are involved in: Gopher Hockey Cheer Team, University Singers Choir

What is your favorite college memory?

As a hockey cheerleader, I got to travel with the men’s hockey team to the Frozen Four last year in Boston. Though we lost the game, the entire trip was a blast with all the sightseeing, police escorts, and fans coming up to talk to us. Skating for 17,000 people is an experience I’ll never forget.

Did you participate in any student organizations, Learning Abroad programs, research or internship opportunities, or other related experiences? How have you learned from them?

I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. The opportunity to travel the world and be immersed in a foreign language was life-changing!

I also had a virtual internship placement with King’s College Hospital in London, England my sophomore year. I learned about the administrative side of a hospital and made many connections I still use today.

How would you describe your time in your major?

Human physiology was difficult. It was a strong foundation of science in addition to all of the liberal education requirements, which makes me feel well-rounded as I enter the workforce. I felt supported by professors and advisors as I navigated through the coursework, even if I struggled at times or felt overwhelmed. I’m glad I chose the human physiology route and feel like I have a solid understanding of the human body.

What is your favorite study spot on campus?

The Lind Hall library. It is right next to Starbucks, but pin-drop silent. I enjoyed the location—it was very central to all of my classes.

What's next for you? What are your post-graduation plans?

I am working as an EMT at Masonic Children’s Hospital. I am grateful for the opportunity to help kids who are going through scary and difficult times. I plan to apply to physician assistant programs next year.
