We are delighted to announce the promotions of faculty members Sara Algeri and Kazeem Adepoju.

Sara Algeri has been promoted to Associate Professor with indefinite tenure. Algeri serves as a faculty member for the School of Statistics, where her research focuses on astrostatistics, statistical inference, and computational statistics. She also holds a faculty appointment for interdisciplinary programs in Data Science, housed in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, and has served as faculty for the Data Science Multi-messenger Astrophysics Training Program. Algeri was awarded a significant NSF grant submitted with Galin Jones on "Computationally Tractable Inference for Multi-Messenger Astrophysics.” She helped to organize the U of M’s Women in Data Science Symposium in 2020 and, more recently, co-organized the Banff International Research Station’s 2023 workshop on Systematic Effects and Nuisance Parameters in Particle Physics in Alberta, Canada. She also serves as a mentor for the Math Alliance, supporting efforts to increase diversity in quantitative sciences professions. Algeri has made notable contributions in the fields of both statistics and physics, and she has shown exceptional dedication to the University of Minnesota and its students.

Kazeem Adepoju has been promoted to Senior Lecturer. In recent years, Adepoju has served as Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies for the School of Statistics, where he has led consulting opportunities for undergraduate students. Working with the Institute for Research in Statistics and its Applications, he provides researchers with access to statistical expertise, and students with an opportunity to practice applying studies to real-life scenarios. Additionally, Adepoju supports graduate student engagement efforts by organizing the Statistics New Student Orientation for incoming masters and PhD students. Furthermore, he has participated in college-wide initiatives such as CLA’s 2023 Collaborative Workshop on Socioeconomic Inequality, where he presented "An Improved Generalized Probability Distribution for Estimation of  Income Related Measures of Inequality."

Congratulations!
