BA Theatre Auditions: 'Men on Boats' by Jaclyn Backhaus

Calling all movement actors, including dancers! This production of Jacklyn Backhaus’s Men on Boats will be a highly collaborative work of theatre that explores new territory for mounting live theatre in the face of a global pandemic. Performances will entail a mix of live and recorded work that will be focused on embodiment, movement-based storytelling, connection to land, and collaborative Indigenous methodologies of creation. Actors, technicians, and dramaturgs will work closely with each other in this process-based project that includes performance, art installation, and documentary in this exciting exploration of a more inclusive form of storytelling. 

ONLINE Audition Dates & Times:

*Open to any UMN student. You do not have to be a BA Theatre Arts major to audition. 

Tuesday October 20th, 4:30 - 9:00pm

Wednesday October 21st, 4:30 - 9:00pm

Each Audition slot is 10 minutes

Optional pre-recorded submissions accepted 5:00pm on Wednesday October 21st.

What each student should prepare: 

Choice of provided monologues (links at bottom of the sign up link: z.umn.edu/MenonBoats_AUDITIONS)

and

A devised one-minute movement piece that captures the essence of the monologue

*IN-PERSON (Small group) Callbacks:

Sunday October 25th 12pm - 4 pm 

Groups of 4 actors will be assigned and scheduled a specific callback time 

Callbacks - dress for movement

**Remote option 4:00-5:00pm on Sunday October 25th
