Can an act of violence be an act of love? Can an act of vengeance be an act of justice? The women in the world of Fucking A navigate a toxic patriarchy that confines them to service and the dictates of the State. But the men in this world are also trapped in roles that lead to ceaseless acts of violence and domination. Throughout the play, small victories of agency and bodily autonomy are met by brutal punishments, indicting a system that demands loyalty and complicity. This play asks us to explore greater questions of choice and what we are willing to sacrifice for control within the challenges of our own society.

Suzan-Lori Parks is the first African-American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Topdog/Underdog.
