TH8510 (Professional Design Workshop) MFA seminar in design will be hosting playwright, producer, actor Nambi E. Kelley while she is in Twin Cities for the upcoming World Premiere of her new work Re-Memori directed by Chris Berry at Penumbra Theatre. A poetic tour de force, Nambi E. Kelley’s one-woman show fuses personal stories with American history, from enslavement to Black Lives Matter, and asks “Are the struggles of our ancestors ever really in the past?”

The class will be in Room 275, Rarig Center.

About the artist:

Playwright: Nambi serves as a season 2 co-producer on Peacock's Bel Air.  Previous television writing credits include:  Lady In The Lake (Apple) Our Kind of People (Fox), and The Chi (Showtime). She is also in development with Lagralane on a film project TBA. Ms. Kelley is the recipient of the NNPN annual commission where her play, Re-Memori was just presented at WP's Pipeline Festival in New York City.

Acting: Nambi E. Kelley's credits include co-starring and writing on Coronatown, airing on Amazon, and Chicago Med on NBC. She appeared on stage as Nya in MacArthur Genius Dominique Morriseau's Pipeline.  She also played the role of Risa to critical acclaim in the Goodman Theatre's production of Two Trains Running, having been nominated for a Black Theatre Alliance Award and a Broadway Theatre World Award for her work.
