I study American Politics, Political Theory, and Sociology. My current research examines the different ways that marginalized racialized groups interact with government and politics in their everyday lives. In particular, I am interested in how citizenship - measured through political knowledge and political participation - are shaped by marginalized groups' everyday experiences and the informed choices citizens make to participate with government in state-based or community-based institutions and organizations. I use qualitative and quantitative methods to understand more deeply the relationship between citizens and government.

I'm also pedagogically invested in creating welcoming and inclusive  environments for students from marginalized backgrounds. I've used my resources and networks to implement structural change at the Graduate School, American Political Science Association, and department levels. I recently finished teaching an Ancient Greek Philosophy course in Summer 2022 with Dr. Robert Nichols at Minnesota Correctional Facility - Stillwater.

I am currently a graduate research assistant for the University of Minnesota's Center for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA), where I am working on a program evaluation commissioned by Assistant Commissioner Daniel Karpowitz for higher education in Minnesota State Correctional Facilities with four universities and colleges within Minnesota. Previously, I have done with with CURA on housing in Brooklyn Center.
