Saumya studies new media technologies, particularly digital media, with diverse theoretical and methodological approaches. Her research aims to facilitate conversations within and between critical/cultural studies, digital humanities, science and technology studies, and design culture. She brings to bear theories of materialism, affect theory, and posthumanism from an intersectional feminist, decolonial, and queer perspective. Ulitmately, they employ autotheory, narrative and discourse analysis, historical analysis, and speculative research for their research. Through this, they excavate possibilities, ephemeral or otherwise, of critical social, interpersonal, and transcultural futurities.
