The Edelstein-Keller Visiting Writer Series presents CAConrad, who has been working with the ancient technologies of poetry and ritual since 1975. Their latest book is Listen to the Golden Boomerang Return (Wave Books, 2024). In 2023 Conrad celebrated the 30th anniversary of writing The Book of Frank (2010), which is now available in nine different languages. Former United States Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith wrote in the New York Times, "CAConrad's poems invite the reader to become an agent in a joint act of recovery, to step outside of passivity and propriety and to become susceptible to the illogical and the mysterious."

This is a free event open to the public, presented by the Creative Writing Program and the Department of English. For questions about accessibility services and the venue, please email [email protected] or call 612-626-1528.

Conrad is the author of nine other books of poetry, including AMANDA PARADISE: Resurrect Extinct Vibration (Wave Books, 2021), which won the 2022 PEN Oakland Josephine Miles Award, as well as While Standing in Line for Death (Wave Books, 2017), ECODEVIANCE: (Soma)tics for the Future Wilderness (Wave Books, 2014), and A Beautiful Marsupial Afternoon: New (Soma)tics (Wave Books, 2012). They co-edited Supplication: Selected Poems of John Wieners (Wave Books, 2015), along with Robert Dewhurst and Joshua Beckman. Conrad received a Creative Capital grant, a Pew Fellowship, a Lambda Literary Award, and a Believer Magazine Book Award. In 2022 Augusto Cascales made a film of their play The Obituary Show. In 2022, they had their first solo exhibition at Fluent Gallery in Santander, Spain, titled 13 Moons: Listen to the Golden Boomerang Return. They teach at Columbia University in New York City and Sandberg Art Institute in Amsterdam.
