Student Organizations

Geographic Information Science Student Organization (GISSO)

GISSO provides support to students enrolled in the MGIS program, geography department, and others interested in GIS; a forum for presentations in GIS and careers in GIS; opportunities to participate in GIS-related conferences and field trips; and social activities and events for members.

Minnesota Urban Studies Student Association (MUSSA)

MUSSA is an educational and social group for urban studies majors, minors, and any other individuals interested in urban studies topics and related fields (geography, architecture, environmental studies, etc.). They aim to provide opportunities for members by way of guest speakers, tours, trips, social activities, and other events. MUSSA strives to serve the community by completing volunteer projects in association with other community groups. Contact Paula Pentel, the advisor if you want to be added to the urban Studies email list.

Biology, Society, and Environment (BSE) Club

BSE Club is a place where students can come together to build a community through the major. They have regular meetings and actively participate in volunteering for communities in Minnesota. They host small study groups where students with similar classes can help each other, and students can volunteer to tutor their peers in classes they have already taken. The BSE Club also hosts events that promote the student group and other opportunities within the BSE major.
