Meet Scott Eaton, who works at the Language Center as Senior Technology Specialist.

Which parts of your current job description should ElsieTalk readers know about? Are there specific services or expertise you offer that readers could take advantage of more than they currently do?

Collaborate with the Director, and other staff to ensure a secure and well managed tech environment that meets language learning needs and the delivery of quality technical support to students, instructors, and staff. Serve as the primary purchaser of technology for the department and make purchasing recommendations Coordinate software license and support renewal with the Office of Information Technology and outside vendors. Coordinate with the LC Director to prepare the annual Infrastructure for Learning grant application and other proposals. Plan and implement the installation of computers, printers, and related technology for Language Center classrooms, Multimedia Lab, Multimedia Development Lab, and student staff workstations.

Can you briefly describe 2-3 projects you've worked on in the past year?

New laptop computers have been purchased and deployed for the Language Center checkout program.

 

Infrastructure for Learning award from 2020 has been approved and processed, and new computers are being installed in Jones 10 for 2022.

 

Infrastructure for Learning program 2021 has been completed and awards will be finalized soon.
