Language Center Conference Initiative

The Language Center is pleased to announce the launch of a new conference initiative for the 2022-2023 academic year!

Graduate students and instructional P&As of languages in CLA interested in submitting an abstract for presentation at an upcoming conference in applied linguistics or language pedagogy, i.e. CALICO, IALLT, MWALLT, etc., may submit their abstracts electronically for blind review by a panel of applied linguists at the Language Center. Participants will then receive feedback electronically, ahead of their conference submission deadline. Any participant whose abstract is accepted into the conference of their choice will receive a financial incentive of up to $100* to use towards the cost of conference registration and/or membership.

*= $100 when conference registration is $100+; = full cost of registration when registration is <$100

Participants who receive the financial incentive must agree to participate in a Language Center event to share their work. Dates and format will be agreed upon with participants.

Participants interested in this initiative must fill out the online submission form to indicate their interest in receiving the financial incentive. Participants must share the title and proposal for feedback prior to submitting to the official conference. The form will also serve to manage the blind review process. Those seeking feedback will be able to submit a Word or Google document for review.

Contact Amanda Dalola at adalola@umn.edu with any questions about the initiative.
