The TandemPlus Program through the Language Center would like to announce an important programming change for academic year 2023-24. This year, we will be pressing pause on our class-to-class (C2C) programming in order to launch a new initiative called the Peer Language Partnership (PLP) program. Our goal is to more directly serve the local population of UMN language students by offering them additional structured and meaningful ways of using their language of study with local peers.

The PLP will target both modern and classical languages by offering extracurricular exchanges that pair learners of the same language for additional practice and mutual support in the development of study skills and cultural awareness. We plan to offer this program to all students of language at UMN by making contact with them through their language classes.

We have reached out to language coordinators to schedule a brief info session on the new PLP program during the unit’s Welcome Week activities. Requests for individual class visits will begin shortly after the start of the semester. Contact Kate Hein at tandem@umn.edu with questions.
