Fuman Yang Named Winner of 2024 Marvin O. Mechelke II Piano Competition

Congratulations to DMA student Fuman Yang, a member of Alexander Braginsky’s studio, for winning the Mechelke Piano Competition. “Yang is talented, dedicated and hard-working.” Braginsky shared. “She has what it takes to succeed.” 

Established in 1992, the Mechelke Piano Competition is a time-honored tradition at the School of Music and celebrates outstanding musicianship and academic excellence. 

Artist Bio

Fuman Yang graduated from Xinghai Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor's degree in 2020 and a Master's degree in 2023, instructed by Dr. Vivian Li. In 2019, Yang performed Chopin Concerto in E minor, Op.11 No.1 with Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra in Qingdao, China and Chopin Concerto in F minor, Op.21 No.2 with the TIMM Ensemble in Italy. In March of this year, Yang won the first prize in the Schubert club competition.
