Matthew Mehaffey conducts the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh

Matthew Mehaffey, Professor and Associate Director of Choral Activities, recently earned two GRAMMY nominations as Music Director of The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for their recording of Beethoven: Symphony No. 9. The group is nominated in the categories of Best Orchestral Performance and Best Engineered Album. Winners will be announced on Jan. 31, 2022.

The Mendelssohn Choir returns to live performance under Mehaffey's direction with The Promise of Light, six free community concerts presented throughout the Pittsburgh region. The MCP has a full spring of performances including their return to the Heinz Hall stage with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. There will also be new episodes of their virtual series Global Choral Traditions--this year with the addition of a small live audience.
