Student Amelia Smith Teaches at University of Mississippi

Amelia Smith

Amelia Smith (DMA, clarinet, student of Timothy Zavadil) recently completed a temporary teaching assignment at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. She filled in for Dr. Michael Rowlett for 6 weeks during the beginning of the fall term. While there, Smith taught 12 clarinet students, clarinet studio, and a single reeds methods course. About the experience, Smith says, "I really loved meeting and working with all of the students, getting to know who they are and what motivates their passion for music. They have a tight-knit community, are always eager to help each other out, and I felt a genuine feeling of togetherness which was evident from the moment I walked through the doors. I'm beyond grateful to have had this opportunity!" Smith recently returned to Minnesota to continue her final year of doctoral study.
