Meet Jörg Pierach (BA ‘02, Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication), a distinguished Alumni of Notable Achievement Award winner who leads a cutting-edge creative communications agency after graduating from CLA. In addition to his success in communication, Pierach is a co-owner of two restaurants, showcasing his diverse talents in both business and creativity.

What do you do professionally?

I own a creative communications agency and co-own two restaurants.

How are you involved in the community?

I have served on many non-profit boards over the years, and my agency does quite a bit of pro bono work for local non-profits.

How did your time in CLA inspire you to pursue your path?

I was able to explore a variety of interests before really identifying my passion for communications and creativity. It also allowed me to find some important mentors, who helped guide my professional journey.

What is your favorite memory from your time as a student?

I loved spending quiet nights in the Walter or Wilson library with my nose in a text book. It felt like such a transformative time. I also loved playing intramural sports at the U.

What advice would you give to current CLA students?

Take advantage of all the Twin Cities have to offer, from music and theater to restaurants and recreation.

How do you spend your free time? What "fills your cup"?

I love working on my hobby farm. There are always little chores I can do outside, which gets me moving and makes me feel productive.

What was your reaction to receiving this award?

Boy, if my high school teachers could see me now!

What's next? What are your personal/professional goals for the next five years?

I look forward to seeing my kids graduate from High School and begin to find their own path in life. I also want to continue to find ways to be innovative in my businesses.
