Welcome Aaron Molstad
Dr. Aaron Molstad is one of two new assistant professors joining the School of Statistics this fall. Please help us to welcome him.
“I am delighted to join the School of Statistics at the University of Minnesota,” Molstad shares.
For the past four years, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics and a member of the Genetics Institute at the University of Florida. Before starting at UF, he received his BA from St. Olaf College, his PhD from the University of Minnesota School of Statistics, and he spent two years as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle.
His primary research interests are in multivariate analysis and numerical optimization. Much of his work is focused on analyzing modern "omics" data (e.g., genomic or proteomic). He has also developed new methods for regression with multiple continuous, discrete, or mixed-type responses.
“Having grown up in the Twin Cities, I look forward to spending time with local friends and family. Outside of work, you will find me at a coffee shop, riding my bike, or cheering for the Twins” says Molstad.
